A liquid silver, mirrored backdrop set the polished tone at this morning’s Calvin Klein Fall ‘12 presentation, which included ready-to-wear, accessories, athletic apparel, jeans, and a new CK One cosmetics line. And, of course, there were the latest underwear offerings—a definite highlight in view of the anatomically flawless models sporting the cotton bras and logo briefs. The clothing itself was characteristically clean and architectural, with an emphasis on unexpected volumes. An oversize, structured women’s coat with a slight masculine edge looked modern tossed over a sleeveless, leather-trim suit and styled with a sleek leather envelope clutch. The same goes for the color-blocked, long-sleeved sheath that hinted at the swinging sixties. For the boys, layering was key, with slim turtlenecks shown under crewneck sweaters and warm puffer coats cut from matte suiting fabric. All in all, it was a straightforward, urban collection that will likely find its way into the wardrobes of both the downtown and uptown set.

It’s become a joke at the office how much I love leopard print. My colleague Matthew Schneier even teased me this week: “What are you doing when this trend goes away?” Easy: Save all my pieces and wear them again later, that’s for sure. I’ve been collecting leopard for years, and I still wear the first item I “borrowed” from my mother—a D&G leopard-print button-down from the nineties—alongside more recent finds like Alexander Wang’s leopard Alla wedge. Next on my wish list is from an unlikelier source—Talbots. Scoff if you must,wholesale Christian Dior jewelry, but the mass retailer’s haircalf bag is great. It may look small, but it’s roomy enough to fit my entire life during fashion week. And if Talbots is good enough for Linda Evangelista—its newest campaign star—it’s good enough for me.

I really love his Palm Bitch-y Vivid Enamel Stretch Bracelet which retails for $34.50. And I’m a stacker, so I love that it comes in aqua (currently waitlisted), hot pink, orange, purple and white. The oval and triangle stations that make up this gold-tone bracelet are accentuated by vividly colored epoxy enamel. Our great friend, Robert Verdi, who works with a wide range of celebrities from Eva Longoria Parker to Kathy Griffin called me the other day to discuss Real Housewives of New Jersey (he knows all about them and is a Jersey native) and we got to talking about their jewelry.
Us Weekly recently shot the ladies for our new cover and I had two minutes to pull looks together for them. We had no jewelry. Later, Robert told me how he wished he knew so he could have sent over his stuff. Huh?! He’s got his own line of baubles available on QVC! Who knew? And you know what, it’s hot.
